BooksRobert Lee Brothers' collection of poetry entitled 'Prairie Laureate' includes all three of his previously published books,'Democracy of Dust', 'The Hidden Harp' and 'Threescore and Ten', plus 'Late Harvest', a manuscript he had finished before his death. The 'Peach Creek Poet' spent his entire life in Gonzales County, writing about the land, nature and human nature as he both observed and participated in it. This book contains historical information on cattle drives, drovers, trail bosses and others who were a part of that era in Texas. The Gonzales County Brand Monument features brands from this area and these are recorded within the pages of the book. All the information recorded was taken from the brand owners themselves prior to the actual branding of the monument. The history provided gives the reader an idea of the life and times of Gonzales County during the days of the cattle drives. $16 'Historic Homes of Gonzales' by Paul Frenzel This book contains the history of more than 40 homes in Gonzales, those who built the homes, those people who lived in them and other interesting information about local and pioneer families. The facts were all painstakingly researched and put together with pictures by Mr. Frenzel. $10 'Ghosts of Gonzales' by Leon Netardus Many of the historic homes of Gonzales are said to be inhabited by ghosts or spirits, although they've always been known to be friendly. There are also stories passed down through the years about ghosts, rogues and strange lights in the surrounding rural area.
