Dutch-Oven Cook Off and old-fashioned Melodrama at Pioneer Village: Saturday, April 30 is the day to be at Gonzales Pioneer Village Living History Center. Starting at 10 a.m. taste some of the best cooking the South has to offer! Mouth-watering foods will be simmering and bubbling in iron pots over an open fire! After judges’ samples are taken, visitors can enjoy the rest. Demonstrations of old-time skills will go on through the day and visitors may stoll the 1800s grounds, seeing rope-rug-and soap-making, blacksmithing and other pioneer skills. Prizes will be awarded at 1:30 p.m., just in time for everyone to prepare for the first performance of the western-flavor melodrama.
